Can stress interfere with pregnancy?

Yes it can… Stress can affect the functioning of the hypothalamus. This is the gland in the brain that regulates appetite, emotions and the hormones needed to release the eggs in women and to produce testosterone in men. In severe cases of hormonal imbalances it can result in late ovulation or not ovulating at all.

Stress can also interfere with your desire for having sex and with your emotional well-being.

The snowball effect of stress can be very unsettling. Issues at work, with your personal life or having a very hectic lifestyle can interfere with your chances of getting pregnant. Not being able to get pregnant might cause even more stress, associated with emotional turmoil, treatments and their potential effect and extra costs.
